Last updated: March 2026
At Ecco Sheds & Lofts, we take your privacy and the security of your personal data very seriously. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and how we keep it safe in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).
We believe in honest, BS-free craftsmanship—and that extends to how we handle your data. We only collect what we need to build and deliver your bespoke timber building, and we will never sell your information to third parties.
1. The Data We Collect
When you visit our website or request a custom quote, we may collect the following information:
- Identity & Contact Data: Your name, email address, phone number, and installation postcode. (We need your postcode to accurately calculate delivery and installation costs).
- Project Data: The specific dimensions, requirements, and garden layouts you share with us regarding your bespoke build.
- Technical Data: Your IP address, browser type, operating system, and how you interact with our website (gathered anonymously via Google Analytics).
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data strictly for the following purposes:
- To provide you with an accurate quote for your bespoke shed, summerhouse, or loft.
- To communicate with you regarding your order, delivery, and installation schedule.
- To fulfil our contractual obligations (building and delivering your product).
- To maintain records for your product guarantees and warranties.
- To analyse website traffic so we can improve our digital storefront.
3. How We Process and Store Your Data (Third Parties)
To run a modern, secure website, we use a few trusted third-party services. Under UK GDPR, these are our "Data Processors." We ensure that any processor we use complies with strict data protection laws.
- Website Hosting: Our website is hosted on Netlify.
- Form Submissions: When you request a quote, your data is securely processed via our form handler before being sent directly to our sales inbox.
- Website Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit our site and which pages are the most popular. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you.
Note on International Transfers: Some of our trusted digital partners (like Google and Netlify) rely on servers based in the US. Your data is protected by strict Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK-US Data Bridge, ensuring your privacy rights remain fully protected under UK law.
4. Data Retention (How Long We Keep It)
We do not hoard digital data.
- Quote Requests: If you request a quote but decide not to proceed, we will securely delete your contact information after 12 months.
- Customer Records: If you purchase an Ecco Shed, we will retain your order details and contact information for the duration of your product's lifespan to honour any warranties, guarantees, or structural enquiries.
5. Security
We have implemented appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used, or accessed in an unauthorised way. Access to your personal data is strictly limited to Ecco Sheds & Lofts employees who need it to process your order.
6. Your Legal Rights (UK GDPR)
Under UK data protection laws, you have specific rights regarding your personal data:
- The Right to Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- The Right to Rectification: You can ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
- The Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): You can ask us to delete your personal data when we no longer have a legitimate reason to keep it.
- The Right to Withdraw Consent: Where you have provided consent (such as for marketing or quote follow-ups), you can withdraw it at any time.
